Unified Grocers, originally Unified Western Grocers, was a retailer-owned wholesale grocery cooperative that supplies independent supermarkets in the Western United States. It was formed in 1999 by the merger of two West Coast cooperatives, one based in Oregon and one in Los Angeles: United Grocers of Oregon and Certified Grocers of California. In 2007, it acquired Associated Grocers of Seattle, Washington, and shortened its name to Unified Grocers. The company has its headquarters in Commerce, California.

A former employee said this in a review "Unified Grocers is the worst to work for. You have to always look at for yourself, there are people always ratting you out if they don't like you the union is all about politics. "It's us the union against the company". The company you work for it is the worst place to work for".

At a moments notice you may be required by the threat of losing your job to give up your day and off family plans and work a 6th day up to 14 hrs. Sometimes trying to get a day off for personal reasons may be refused depending on the availability of drivers based upon seniority. Dispatchers consistently making mistakes on routing, over weight on axles, forcing drivers out of seniority on runs and making excuses for their own demise.Good pay and benefitsNo family time and NO personal life expectations by mngmt."

"I worked for this company for a little over five years and found it to be extremely cut throat andalot of back stabbing. It is a free for all if you want to get involved inthat type of mess. I did everything humanly possible to stay free of that type of environment but was eventually pulled into it strickly for survival. "The company itself is a typical stuffy corporate environment, and most of the departments are isolated and have little interaction with each other. If you are looking for a job in loss prevention I would not recommend it! The Director is rude and abrasive and disconnected with his staff. He has a hard time keeping quality employees, which is why is department is continuously recruiting for open positions. He is gone from the office doing personal errands most of the day but demands results and accountability from his staff. Most of the investigators that are hired have previous law enforcement experience but are not generally recognized for their skills and abilities and have resigned for that reason. A very thankless job.Competitive pay and good benefits.Hostile work environment. Current Director of Loss Prevention has no meaningful people skills."
