Unified Grocers Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

Unified Grocers, originally Unified Western Grocers, was a retailer-owned wholesale grocery cooperative that supplies independent supermarkets in the Western United States. It was formed in 1999 by the merger of two West Coast cooperatives, one based in Oregon and one in Los Angeles: United Grocers of Oregon and Certified Grocers of California. In 2007, it acquired Associated Grocers of Seattle, Washington, and shortened its name to Unified Grocers. The company has its headquarters in Commerce, California.

A former employee said this in a review "Unified Grocers is the worst to work for. You have to always look at for yourself, there are people always ratting you out if they don't like you the union is all about politics. "It's us the union against the company". The company you work for it is the worst place to work for".

Others drivers always trying to tell you how you have to do your job."

Sales (Former Employee) says

"Worked at the Corporate Office in Commerce, CA - Company is struggling. Sales declining. Very poor customer service.Old boys club mentality with HR handcuffed. Company is not progressive or innovative. Company creates situations, strange operations to mislead employees and customers.A lot of customer complaints which do not get resolved.benefitsvery poor working environment"

Customer Satisfaction Advocate (Former Employee) says

"Customers for the most part are nice and reasonable. The "managers" are not. Actually their title should be yellers and harrassers. Anytime any help is needed they get angry, yet if you don't ask for help, they get angry, pretty much sums up the "management style"."

Operations Specialist/Merchandiser (Former Employee) says

"The company has had many problems, changes in store managers, demotions, firing, and general hard to work under such demoralizing whims of top management. Example one day floral is downsized no consideration of employees concerns for workgood health benefits if you can keep steady work hoursinsecure work enviroment, high turnover, team working together no"

ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE/SOURCING (Former Employee) says

Order Selector (Former Employee) says

"Union rep has his favorites and likes to skip people in señority so that his favorites can have the days they want off or do the work they want. Workers there influence management on who stays and who gets fired opinions are very bias. Terrible hours. You top out at 26$ hr.Terrible crew always looking for the easy way out."

Warehouse Associate (Former Employee) says

"Fast paced work. Lots of heavy lifting. Equipment often not charged or fully functional yet management still wanted work done. Working crew not very friendlyN/aattitude of the staff. equipment breaking down."

Driver (Current Employee) says

"Long hours and some weekends. On call everyday for many. At a moments notice you may be required by the threat of losing your job to give up your day and off family plans and work a 6th day up to 14 hrs. Sometimes trying to get a day off for personal reasons may be refused depending on the availability of drivers based upon seniority. Dispatchers consistently making mistakes on routing, over weight on axles, forcing drivers out of seniority on runs and making excuses for their own demise.Good pay and benefitsNo family time and NO personal life expectations by mngmt."

Equipment coordinator (Former Employee) says

"I worked for this company for a little over five years and found it to be extremely cut throat andalot of back stabbing. It is a free for all if you want to get involved inthat type of mess. I did everything humanly possible to stay free of that type of environment but was eventually pulled into it strickly for survival. I left and was black balled because I did not conform to the corruption of the organization.has a few good people in the company and great paycut throat and back stabbing enviroment, bad work place."

Building Maintenance (Current Employee) says

"Entire team needs more understanding of each other's needs. It seems like the union and company are at war. Sorry to say but a very dismal atmosphereSteady employmentVery high production criteria"

Corporate Investigator (Former Employee) says

"The company itself is a typical stuffy corporate environment, and most of the departments are isolated and have little interaction with each other. If you are looking for a job in loss prevention I would not recommend it! The Director is rude and abrasive and disconnected with his staff. He has a hard time keeping quality employees, which is why is department is continuously recruiting for open positions. He is gone from the office doing personal errands most of the day but demands results and accountability from his staff. Most of the investigators that are hired have previous law enforcement experience but are not generally recognized for their skills and abilities and have resigned for that reason. A very thankless job.Competitive pay and good benefits.Hostile work environment. Current Director of Loss Prevention has no meaningful people skills."

Stock Clerk (Former Employee) says

"Management for unified is pretty selfish. They don’t really care for the workers they just want the work done and that’s not a good attitude to have. The hours are great and the pay is good as well"

Accounting Clerk/Billing (Former Employee) says

"BusyAccounting, Billing, accounts receivable and payable.Management was great.Co-workers were also wonderful to work with.Fast pass and very busy."

Forklift Operator/Warehouse (Current Employee) says

"Management needs improvement in the area of working with it's employees and not against them. There has been a long standing culture within management of unequal treatment of certain employees. A good ol boy's club so to speak."

Sales Representative (Former Employee) says

"My typical day at work would be mainly to maintain an excellent customer relationship to retain business. I learned multitasking skills through several work responsibilities and to work well under pressure. I also accomplished excellent management skills through administrating, organizing, and prioritizing workflow to meet deadlines. Our office staff worked as a team and maintained a great working relationship. The hardest part of my job would have been to obtain information from purchasing department in a timely fashion in order to beat my competitor, as I had to rely on purchasing department for information. The most enjoyable part of this job was building customer relationships, maintaining customer satisfaction, learning of new products through vendor demonstration, and being able to work as a team.Knowledge of new products, and prduct manufactors.Short breaks and lunches"
